A Letter to the Editor of the Fish Rap Live!

Dear “Editor”:
I find your publication to be irresponsible, amateurish, and completely scatological. You lack the insight and maturity of a “professional” periodical. I only picked up a copy upon the recommendation of a dear friend, who, as it turns out, was playing a rather cruel joke on me. I read an interview with a local band that happened to be peppered with “poop jokes” and explicit references to a number of sexual perversions. Music was barely discussed, since your reporter seemed more concerned with the band members’ personal lives than their art. In addition, your coverage of the local election was barely adequate, and I couldn’t help but think that your ballot recommendations were heavily biased and geared toward the “not me” demographic. Your cartoons were neither clever nor humorous, and some were downright offensive. For a paper that calls itself the Metro Santa Cruz, you exhibited little to no relevance or sensitivity to the Santa Cruz community. For your sake, for the city’s sake, and for journalism’s sake, I hope you see fit to shape up and make some changes.

Sincerely,
John Q. Santa Cruz
